National Design Competition Winner: CoMotion LA Mobility Conference

In collaboration with Better Block KC, our team's entry won the Judge's Choice 1st Place Award at the 2019 Spin Spot National Parklet Competition in Denver, Colorado.

Our design "The Urban Backyard" was selected from 5 other finalist designs that were each fully constructed for evaluation. The prototype included ample seating, dining space, a porch swing, plants, and parking for 6 bicycles and 7 scooters - all using the same space as one on-street parking stall. Our entry also included custom games and entertainment features to successfully activate this urban prototype. 

In partnership with the mobility company SPIN, our team was also invited to construct a replica of the winning prototype at the 2019 CoMotion LA mobility conference held in Los Angeles, California for use by conference attendees. Michael Schmidt from our Kansas City office led Confluence's efforts as part of the team to develop and construct the innovatove winning design.
