Sauk Rapids, Minnesota
The strategy guiding the Sauk Rapids Riverfront Park Master Plan focused encouraging residents and visitors alike to reconnect with the Mississippi River and nearby downtown Sauk Rapids.
This project serves the local and regional community by providing numerous programming opportunities that engage and attract site visitors, inviting the community to congregate, socialize, play and relax.
Confluence led the visioning and master planning process for the riverfront park, including the program and intent for the site and supporting structures. Our team also facilitated the public engagement process in partnership with the City of Sauk Rapids. The riverfront park includes an event center venue, performance amphitheater, event lawn space for community events, recirculating sequencing interactive water feature, small gathering venue, river engagement and touchpoints, native restoration and the adaptive reuse of granite outcropping.
This project significantly enhances the engagement with the Mississippi River, which has reclaimed its intrinsic value as a community asset and focal point. The riverfront park has become a part of the City’s identity as well as a regional attraction.
