This project identified plans for key catalyst sites spread throughout Burlington’s historic downtown core to trigger economic revitalization.

Confluence was part of a multidisciplinary team hired by the City of Burlington, Iowa, to help reinvigorate its historic downtown core through the redevelopment of several vacant or underutilized properties. This EPA granted funded project involved the use of a steering committee and feedback from City staff and the regional planning agency. Detailed site assessment was completed with a mobile GIS application, the results of which were uploaded to a project website through an interactive mapping tool. The final plan identifies three catalyst sites and provides renderings to help visualize possible redevelopment plans.
