Kansas City, Missouri
This new plan outlines a unifying vision while guiding strategic initiatives to shape the continued revitalization and transformation of Downtown Kansas City, Missouri.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, Confluence collaborated in the development of urban design and planning recommendations for this plan. Our work included providing a summary of prior planning studies and urban design initiatives for the Downtown area (many with prior Confluence involvement), and serving as a local expert for the national consultant teams involved in the study effort. Collaborative strategy sessions were held throughout the planning process with the team, with the client, and with key Downtown stakeholders.
Confluence also assisted in facilitating stakeholder discussions during community outreach sessions, developing illustrative graphics to communicate a variety of planning and design initiatives, and preparing recommendations for removing and redeveloping the existing I-70 freeway in the North Loop area. We also provided recommendations for a proposed new Innovation District, the potential for Downtown Baseball, enhancing the proposed Green Line trail loop, and ideas to infuse new infrastructure projects with environmentally sustainable approaches.
