Gladstone, Missouri
On a site adjacent to the Big Shoal Cemetery and home to Gladstone's first historic preservation project, the Atkins-Johnson Farm and Museum sits in a place that was once considered the edge of the American West.
In collaboration with the City of Gladstone, our team crafted a master plan to strengthen the site's rich history while exploring its growth potential to serve as a regional cultural and agricultural destination. Dating to 1831, this farm is steeped in history and local farm culture. The master plan plan honors the farmstead's unique heritage while also exploring expanded facility operations and the integration of innovative agricultural practices and programs to be achieved through potential industry partnerships.
The plan also supports expanded farming activities, the provision of emerging food production techniques and programs, and enhanced visibility for the facility through a coordinated series of thematic festivals and educational events.
