This project creates an iconic amphitheater along the beautiful racoon river valley in west Des Moines, Iowa.
The City of West Des Moines hired Confluence to fully realize the vision for an outdoor amphitheater that was first conceptually designed by Confluence in 2016. The symmetric bowl-shaped amphitheater has iconic staging that maintains a visual connection to the nearby pond in this 10-acre site. The site plan integrated the existing loop trail around the pond, provided a location for food trucks, and is designed to host City band concerts, theater group performances or other small concerts. Confluence helped facilitate multiple public meetings to gain community and neighborhood input on the overall design integrating feedback where necessary.
