The Cannery District - Riverfront Parks Master Plan
Client
City of Eau Claire Parks and Recreation Department
Size
~30 acres
Eau Claire, Wisconsin
Long serving as the home of a significant canning facility and adjacent manufacturing uses, this district is poised to be revitalized by new businesses, residences, entertainment and recreation uses to serve the community.
Located adjacent to Downtown Eau Claire along the Chippewa River, this project provides an opportunity to reimagine a series of connected parks and plaza spaces to form vibrant and distinctive public realm around which this District can grow and thrive. These public space enhancements are being designed with integrated flexibility to serve the adjacent neighborhood while also welcoming the entire community for dining, shopping, and larger community-oriented events.
Through a series of public and stakeholder outreach events, combined with our use of a dynamic and interactive project website, our design efforts have garnered over 650+ comments and suggestions to date from a broad cross-section of the community. Our team facilitated an on-site full day charrette (thanks to The Brewing Projekt for hosting) at the beginning of the week, and by the end of the week we produced two fully articulated concept plans that are being shared with the public for input both online via the website and in-person at the Haymarket Holiday event.
We are excited to see the results of the community's preferences, and how this unique project takes shape in the near future.
