This project creates an outdoor space to host pre- and post- game day activities for Chicago Cubs fans, while also serving as an active park for the Wrigleyville and Lakeview communities.
The design relates to the historic Wrigley Field context with the extensive use of brick, the inclusion of a large lawn panel referencing the iconic ballfield within the stadium, and the use of traditional forms. The design also integrates infrastructure supporting a variety of events while accommodating a high-intensity development program for gameday functions, providing a balanced approach of flexible use paving and lawn areas.
Our team led the creation of design development and construction documents for the park landscape, hardscape, and built-in fixtures and furnishings including terraced bleacher seating along Clark Street. The park adds needed open space in a dense neighborhood underserved by public parks. It is also heavily programmed throughout the year and has become a hub for community activities including a weekly Green City Market, morning yoga classes, fitness programs, a moves-in-the-park program, rotating chef demonstrations, afternoon programs for kids, musical performances, and a winter ice skating rink.
