McCrory Gardens Education & Visitor Center
Client
South Dakota State University
Size
70 acres
Brookings, South Dakota
Originally developed as a formal garden in the 1960's, McCrory Gardens has grown to include over 25 acres of formal display gardens with a 45 acre arboretum.
Confluence worked collaboratively with South Dakota State University faculty and staff and the architect to develop a site program reflecting the goals for this project. The result is the creation of a collection of meaningful, memorable spaces that serve as a natural extension of the interior environment, providing a seamless transition from this new facility into the existing Gardens.
The addition of this Education & Visitor Center has opened the Gardens to a full-season experience, allowing the University to expand its education and event opportunities to serve a wider audience.
