Hickory Glen Park - Master Plan

This visionary park master plan recommends a signature community open space for Pleasant Hill, a fast-growing suburb of Des Moines, Iowa.
This legacy park is planned to serve the emerging recreation needs of this growing community, and includes opportunities for both passive and active outdoor recreation activities. Our team engaged students from the adjacent elementary school to assist in exploring opportunities and generating ideas for features to consider in this new park.
The master plan calls for creating a series of gathering spaces, and positions the park to become a focal point for the community. A key guiding principal of the master plan involved the preservation, protection and restoration of a large stand of native Iowa oak savannah woodlands on the site.
