Colorado State University: Behavioral Sciences Building and Center Avenue Pedestrian Mall

Fort Collins, Colorado

The Behavioral Sciences Building is situated adjacent to the “academic spine” walkway with direct relationships to its surrounding buildings and spaces.

The project strived to achieve LEED Gold certification; therefore, key components of the landscape and site design are geared toward achieving and demonstrating those points. All proposed seatwalls are constructed of the red and buff flagstone to correspond with campus standards. Planted areas are irrigated by the campus’ non-potable water source and connected to a fully operational, automatic underground irrigation system. Other amenities include abundant bicycle parking and a bioswale designed to remove silt and pollution from surface runoff water.
