The unique development that once stood as “King Louie,” a bowling alley and ice chateau, has been transformed into a new civic center and museum offering day camps, programs and events for the community.

Confluence worked closely with the Johnson County team and architects to position specific programming spaces that encourage and capitalize on the indoor/outdoor relationships of the site. The courtyard adjacent to main event space engages with the building and creates opportunities for additional event space capacity. While the courtyard has the volume to cater to large events, it’s also flexible to serve numerous day-to-day activities.

Our design incorporated the weathering steel wall that encloses the courtyard, reflecting a modern design approach that compliments the existing building’s earthy tones found in its abundant limestone veneer.
