NKC Gateway Installation

Friday, July 27, 2018

An iconic new gateway feature was installed Saturday morning, July 28th in Downtown North Kansas City. The arch spans almost 80 feet over Armour Road.

This project was an outgrowth of our work on the City’s Burlington Corridor Complete Street Plan, wherein an idea for a new archway captured the attention of the City Council – and they supported moving this project into final design and construction. This new gateway will complement the City’s future gateway and wayfinding signage program – slated to be installed in phases over the next several years.

Confluence led the collaborative design efforts with the City for the design of these improvements. We are also currently working with the City as part of a multi-disciplinary team to implement additional complete streets improvements for a nearby portion of this same Armour Road Corridor, which will include a road diet with buffered bike lanes and other streetscape enhancements.
