Our Chicago team had a blast at the official ribbon cutting for The Green at 320 featuring food trucks, games, yoga, and of course Mayor Lori Lightfoot! This 1.5 acre green space is entirely over structure and right across the street from Chicago Union Station; an area of the city where very little public green space existed before. Designed in close collaboration with our friends at Goettsch Partners for Riverside Investment & Development, the park features a flexible central lawn space surrounded by lush gardens into which intimate seating nooks are immersed. A mix of furniture: moveable bistro tables, chaise lounges, and comfy seating, combine with ping pong tables, foosball tables, and built-in seat walls to provide a diversity of different social and spatial experiences. Biederman Redevelopment Ventures, the park programming consultant, has developed an exciting schedule of events to provide activation that will keep giving visitors a reason to return – a schedule can be found at www.thegreenat320southcanal.com. We are looking forward to seeing all the ways this transformational project will impact the great city of Chicago!
