The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) set out to create a long-term community-driven plan for 34 parks in its North Service Area. Over the course of 18 months and over 100 events, the MPRB conducted one of the largest public engagement processes ever undertaken in the area—in Minneapolis’ only majority-minority quadrant and home to many underserved populations.
The Minnesota Chapter of ASLA recently awarded the completed plan with a Merit Award in the planning + urban design category. Congratulations to MPRB and our project partners for your work in connecting with community members and making their voices heard, and to all those living in the district who shared their ideas that inevitably helped make their home a better place for everyone!
