We would like to welcome Irene Henry to the Confluence team!
Irene has lived in the Midwest most of her life, bouncing from her hometown of St. Louis up to St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, and eventually over to Chicago. It was the couple years in a more foreign Austin, Texas that made her care about urban planning and walkable places built for people, and pushed her to pursue a Master’s of Urban Planning and Policy from the University of Illinois - Chicago. Her experience navigating various cities in the U.S., Europe, and North Africa influenced her appreciation for how the built environment impacts our sense of community and our ease of mobility in an urban space, and a background in music taught her the power of a shared goal to bridge diverse backgrounds and beliefs. She uses this knowledge, along with experience in communications and activism, to help convey information in an engaging, compelling way. Irene is passionate about pedestrian and bicycle friendly streets, green infrastructure, and places that connect people to each other and their surrounding environment.
In her free time, Irene enjoys exploring Chicago by foot and train, practicing aerial silks, reading, writing, and photography.
